INITIAL SITUATION
Strengthen the nutrition-related climate protection measures already launched in the long term
The canton of Zurich has so far relied on two measures to promote climate-friendly nutrition as part of the action plan to reduce greenhouse gases (2018). These measures focus on teaching materials and on improving the climate compatibility of the offerings in the catering establishments of the Canton of Zurich. In view of the high potential sustainability impact, the canton would like to strengthen its work in this area.
OUR SOLUTION APPROACH
First the mission statement, then the measures – both participatory
In close cooperation with the team from Econcept AG (Zurich), the first step was to develop a mission statement within the authorities that reflects the values and goals of the Canton of Zurich in this area. This is the groundwork for creating a common basis for the measures in the coming years. Building on this, the development of measures was carried out in a process involving two virtual workshops in which a large number of relevant stakeholders participated.
- Professional support for the development of the mission statement
- Bringing in the stakeholder network
- Co-designing the virtual workshops and their implementation
- Evaluation of the workshops and conceptual development of measures
EFFECT & RESULTS
Broad-based mission statement on two pages. Four effective measures being implemented.
The mission statement and the measures were adopted by the Zurich cantonal government on 05.10.2022.
